The 112th District Court

  • The 112th District Court has jurisdiction over five Texas counties: Crockett County, Pecos County, Sutton County, Reagan County, and Upton County.  

  • The main district office is located in Ozona, Texas in the Crockett County Courthouse.

  • Civil motions filed in counties can be heard in any other county within our jurisdiction, except for final hearings.  Final hearings must be heard in the county in which they were originally filed.

  • Hearings are held in person. Two Zoom dockets a month are reserved for prove-up matters and pleas.

Judge Pete Gomez was raised in Sonora, Texas, one of the five counties over which he now presides .  He attended Angelo State University and earned a B.A. in 1984.  He then attended Texas Tech School of Law and earned his Juris Doctorate in 1988 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in the same year.  Judge Gomez maintained a general practice in San Angelo, Texas for 17 years before taking the bench. His primary areas of practice were criminal, family, personal injury and real estate.  He was first elected to the position of 112th District Judge and took the bench on January 1, 2007.  He was re-elected to the same position in 2010, 2014 and 2018.

 

Judge Gomez is a 2014 graduate of the College of Judicial Studies. The Texas College for Judicial Studies is a multi-year program designed to provide additional educational opportunities to judges who desire to improve their adjudication skills and acquire more knowledge in their jurisdictional specialization. The College consists of a core curriculum of 16 hours and a specialty curriculum of 27 hours. To receive a certificate of completion, judges must complete the core curriculum plus 27 hours in their selected specialty jurisdiction, for a total of 43 hours.

  • Court begins promptly at 10:00AM for regular docket days. If an attorney will be late, please EMAIL us to let us know.  

  • There is one docket day per month for Crockett, Reagan, Sutton and Upton Counties.  There are two docket days for Pecos County, one criminal docket day and one civil docket day. 

  • Motions may be heard in any other county within our district at the approval of all parties.

  • Final hearings must be heard in the county in which they were originally filed.

  • Contact the Court Administrator for possible trial dates.

  • When submitting Attorney Fee Vouchers for payment, please submit an Order Approving Attorney's Fees along with the Voucher and the personal time sheet.

  • The current rate for a Court Appointed Attorney is $90.00 per hour, for any case assigned after March 1, 2021.

  • Motions for Summary Judgment must be filed in the appropriate county. Submit an extra courtesy copy of the filed MSJ and any subsequent Answers/replies directly to the Judge's Office in Ozona. There is a 45 day notice required for MSJs.

  • Please discuss any proposed Motion for Continuance for criminal cases with the District Attorney's Office to ask if they have any objection before efiling Motion.

  • For setting hearings, please efile an Order Setting Hearing for Judge's signature, after all counsel has agreed to a date.   

  • Submit all Motions for Continuance BEFORE 3:00PM on the day before a hearing.
